DC resident Tyrone Allen, Jr., 25,  was killed in a crash shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday May 5 on 3600 block of Silver Hill Road in Suitland involving a sedan and pick-up truck, according to investigators.

Investigators from the Prince George's County Police Department determined that both vehicles collided in the eastbound lane of the road, causing Allen's fatal injuries.

He was rushed to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The injuries sustained by other drivers and passengers involved in the crash were all non-life-threatening.

Before his death, Allen's father, Tyrone Allen, Sr., said that his son suffered from "Sickle Cell and has spent his life in and out of the hospital, sometimes in (a) coma, and in extreme pain."

"For his life to end this way, it's so gut-wrenching and very difficult to process him no longer being with us," his father said

"The funeral home notified us that they would not be able to set up any arrangements until a payment has been made."

A GoFundMe on behalf of the Allen family has been set up and raised nearly $2,000 in its first day. It can be found here.
